NEWSPAPER IN EDUCATION FALL 2010 PROGRAMS

The Pueblo Chieftain's Newspapers in Education Program offers excellent teaching resources that meet Colorado Content Standards and challenge your students to read, think and learn with the newspaper as their authentic informational text. Thanks to our generous sponsors, these programs are FREE!

ADOPT-A-CLASS: Our department will find a sponsor to provide your classroom 30 newspapers a week for 30 weeks of the school year! Adopt-A-Class teachers receive a free resource to help use the newspaper. No Cost thanks to individual sponsors

CELEBRATE THE CONSTITUTION AND THE FIRST AMENDMENT: You’ll receive 30 copies of The Pueblo Chieftain on September 14 containing a full color flag page. The back of the page contains a wealth of information (and activities) about the document that created our nation. On September 15, another 30 copies will arrive with a full page lesson (and activities) about the First Amendment.

BRONCO MATHMANIA: An 8-week in-paper math and geography program tied into the Broncos’

NEW SERIALIZED STORY: THE SECRET LIFE: New York City — 1914. This suffrage story is filled with mystery, drama, intrigue, and history as women earn the right to vote.

FIVE STEPS TO FANTASTIC FITNESS: Good health, good food, and good exercise habits are
featured in the seven weekly in-paper activities. Includes a health supplement with additional activities.
